Housewarming Party

We had a wonderful housewarming party yesterday where we served Frogmore Stew. I got the fun job of cutting up the onions...lots of them.
Mert cut up the red potatoes...too many of them. I ended up throwing away a bowl of uncooked, cut potatoes.

Add to that shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob and green beans and you have Frogmore Stew, a/k/a Low Country Boil (sorry, no frogs in this stew). M and his buddies cooked four pots of it.

So we could feed about 35 people. We had enough left over to send a bag of stew home with anyone who wanted some.

And of course, there was dessert. This little guy had eyes bigger than his stomach. We found this plate of cookies and cake almost completely untouched the next morning.

One more surprise, when M drove the van back to the garage from where we had parked it during the party, a colony of yellow jackets had decided to take up residence in the crack of the back door. He had to spray it down before he could open the back of the van.

Similar to D's disclaimer on her blog, a lot of yellow jackets were injured in the making of these pictures.
